Isomerization of linear to angular [3]phenylene and PAHs under flash vacuum pyrolysis conditions.

[structure: see text]. Flash vacuum pyrolysis (FVP) of linear [3]phenylene affords its angular counterpart and the same mixture of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon isomers as that observed on FVP of angular [3]phenylene. A mechanism, supported by a 13C labeling study, is proposed to explain these results.

Reactions of 2-(pyrrol-1-yl)benzyl radicals and related species under flash vacuum pyrolysis conditions.

2-(Pyrrol-1-yl)phenoxyl, aminyl, thiophenoxyl and benzyl radicals 2a-2d, respectively, were generated in the gas-phase under flash vacuum pyrolysis conditions. In all cases except the phenoxyl, cyclisation took place providing acceptable synthetic routes to the fused heterocycles 11, 14 and 15, respectively. Only sigmatropic rearrangement products were isolated, in low yields, from the phenoxyl...

2-Acetyl-3-methylpyrazine phenylsulfonylhydrazone

In the title compound, C(13)H(14)N(4)O(2)S, the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 55.42 (14)°. In the crystal structure, an N-H⋯O hydrogen bond leads to chains of mol-ecules along [001].

3′-O-Acetyl-2′-deoxyuridine

In the two independent but very similar mol-ecules of the title compound, C(11)H(14)N(2)O(6), both nucleobase fragments are nearly planar (both within 0.01 Å) while the furan-ose rings exhibit (2)E-endo envelope conformations. In the crystal, the two 3'-O-acetyl-2'-de-oxy-uridine mol-ecules form a pseudosymmetric dimer of two bases connected via two nearly identical resonance-assisted N-H⋯O hyd...
